Best of the 2016 New York Auto Show

The New York Auto Show significantly concludes with more than six months of car shows including several notable unveiling and new cars from both mass-market and luxury manufacturers. Even though some brands, such as Bentley and Aston Martin decided to skip the show, there were many interesting models to go around. Below there is a rundown of the top cars of the New York Auto Show 2016.

Subaru Impreza sedan

The all-new Subaru Impreza is built on a new platform, with an updated version of the 2.0-letre, 152 horsepower engine. The car is more rigid, which makes it safer. Inside you can find an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking, and rear cross-traffic alert. According to Subaru, the new car ships in the fall.

Lincoln Navigator gullwing concept

Lincoln decided to install wide gull-wing doors in the concept car, as well as a three-step ladder. The Navigator will have a twin-turbo V6 engine that can reliably handle 400 horsepower. It’s not clear yet if the Navigator is going to have this body-on-frame construction or it will be redesigned to boost fuel economy.

2017 Toyota Prius Prime plug-in hybrid

Toyota unveiled a new version for the lineup of fourth-generation hybrid at the New York Auto Show with the unique nameplate: The 2017 Toyota Prius Prime. The car is going to replace a Prius Plug-In Hybrid, but will have the same powertrain as the current Toyota Prius. The electric range is 22 miles, which is a daily distance for an average US citizen.

According to Toyota, the car is built and designed upholding the customers’ interest and expectations. The Prius Prime can run 600 miles with both charged 8.8 kWh battery and a full tank. The company also states that the new car can be completely charged within 5 hours and will be the most efficient PHEV in the market with an efficiency rate of 120 MPGe.

Acura MDX

Acura launched an updated MDX crossover, which has been their most popular and best-selling vehicle for 7 years in a row. For the first time, the Acura MDX will have a three-motor hybrid version, in which power to rear wheels will be delivered using electric motors. Front wheels will be driven by a motor or a gas engine.Acura MDX features increased fuel economy and power, as well as a sport-tuned suspension with different settings.
